City break power and the rise of road-tripping

Hear the roar, feel the power, see the beauty by day … then take a walk on wild side by night!

Cannonball Lions Trip | Wales, England, Scotland

March 23rd – 26th 2018

More than 31 million people have posted about it on Instagram, and it is predicted to be one of the most popular travel trends of 2018. Road-tripping is on the rise and Ireland’s Cannonball supercar event is now gearing up for the first of four Irish and International road trips in 2018.

The foreign Cannonball trips appeal to a much wider group than just car enthusiasts. They are intimate with just thirty cars and designed with adventure, luxury, breath-taking scenery, unforgettable experiences and spontaneity in mind.  In 2018, the foreign Cannonball trips include the Lions Trip in March, the Grand Highlands 3 Tour in May and the USA in October.  Cannonballers bring their own cars by Ferry for the trips closer to home and cars are hired for the US trip.  The gleaming convoy of supercars make quite a spectacle.  A Bugatti Veyron stole the limelight in 2017 at one of the lunch stops but many also choose Range Rover, BMW, Mercedes and all are welcome.

The Lions Trip is the first Cannonball Road trip for 2018 departing Dublin Port at 8.45am on March 23rd on the Dublin Swift Fast Ferry.  The driving route takes in the scenic northern parts of Wales, Brecon Beacons National Park, the stunning Wye Valley, the glorious Cotwolds, Bruntingthorpe Airfield with its Cold War Jets Collection and the 3.2km runway as seen on Mission Impossible and Top Gear, the lush Cheshire countryside and on up to the majestic North Pennines through the Scottish Highlands taking in some stunning views of the coast.  On Monday March 26th, The Cannonball Lions return by Ferry from Cairnryan to Belfast.

What really adds to the appeal of Cannonball foreign trips is the exquisite choice of hotels, restaurants and nightlife. Lunch stops include the renowned Llangoed Hall in the Wye Valley in Wales, The Belfry Sutton Coldfield and McDonald Linden Hall Hotel built 1812 nestled in 450 Scottish acres.  Hotels include the Majestic Queens Hotel in Cheltenham, the iconic Titanic Hotel in Liverpool with rooms inspired by the opulence of the Titanic era and the jewel in the crown will be the 5-star Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh with its Michelin starred dining at the Number One restaurant and an award-winning spa.  The Cannonball Lions dine like kings and then take a walk on the wild side with reservations in the top clubs, bars and nocturnal playgrounds along the route.

The Cannonball Ireland Lions Trip is all-inclusive and the fee of €1,300 per person sharing includes ferry, hotels, lunch and evening meals.  See www.cannonball.ie for details.
