Each week, MediaHQ shines a spotlight on one of Ireland’s most prolific journalists.

Allow us to introduce you to Nick Sheridan, co-presenter of children’s news programme news2day on TRTÉ and reporter for RTÉ’s Six-One News and Nationwide.

Earlier this week, Nick scooped up the Prix CIRCOM Regional Rising Star Award. The Prix CIRCOM is the oldest and biggest European broadcast competition, and this year’s awards received over 200 entries. Judging took place in Serbia by a jury of 14 television professionals from 13 European countries.

The Rising Star prize is worth €3,000 and includes an internship at a regional broadcaster in another European country.

Nick will be presented with his trophy at the Prix Awards Gala in Plovdiv, Bulgaria next month.

Prior to joining RTÉ, Nick was a researcher for TV3’s Late Lunch Live and worked asa newsreader and reporter for Newstalk.

He studied a BA in journalism at Dublin City University, where he was news editor of DCUfm.

Hailing from Kilmuckridge, Co Wexford, Nick joined the news2day team in 2014. He co-presents with Gill Stedman.

A keen filmmaker, Nick was named Young Irish Filmmaker of the Year in 2009 and travelled to South Korea to attend the Seoul International Youth Film Festival.
