01.03.19

Suffering from writer’s block? Our News Diary has got you covered.

Here at MediaHQ, we know just how difficult it can be to consistently come up with creative and topical story hooks for your press releases, especially when PR coverage is more competitive than ever. With that in mind, we have a useful and inspiring News Diary feature to help get the creative juices flowing.

The News Diary is a content calendar and PR organising tool, filled with dates of interest to the Irish media. With over 200 hook ideas from Black Friday to the Budget and the All-Ireland Final to World Friendship Day, this feature will not only save countless hours of your time, but it will give you the competitive edge when it comes to sending press releases. It also allows you add your own hooks and even set news alerts so you won’t miss out on an upcoming event.

So, what does March have in store for us?

1st March – World Compliment Day

With the aim to create the “most positive day in the world”, World Compliment Day is pretty self-explanatory. According to the official website of the unofficial holiday, the day was originally created to spread happiness and increase productivity. This day allows you to share feelings of admiration and adoration for the people around you through words instead of gifts. As the saying goes, it costs nothing to be nice.

8th March – International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a strong call-to-action to progress. First celebrated in 1911, International Women’s Day has grown into a very important day for inclusiveness and gender parity. Although The World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report showed that gender equality is over 200 years away, International Women’s Day serves to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and entire communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

19th March –  International Client’s Day

First celebrated in 2010, International Clients’ Day is an unofficial holiday when company owners and managers thank their clients. International Clients’ Day is based on the fact that, while the world has many memorable days, there is no day solely dedicated to clients – the most valuable part of any business or organisation. This day is growing in popularity, with more and more companies getting involved each year. Why not thank your clients this March?

20th March – International Day of Happiness

International Day of Happiness is celebrated on March 20th every year. Its aim is to inspire, mobilize, and advance the global happiness movement worldwide by encouraging people to recognise the importance of happiness. This year’s theme is Share Happiness and focuses on the importance of relationships, kindness and helping each other.

21st March – Annual Ted Fest

This is one to make you laugh. Every year, the Aran Islands host the TedFest. This is a three-day celebration to honour the legendary Irish TV show, Father Ted. Beginning on March 21st, ticket holders are in for a treat with lots of live music, games and competitions such as Ted’s Got Talent and The Craggy Cup. Just four days after St. Patrick’s Day, TedFest is a great way to continue celebrating Irish culture (and Irish humour!).

31st March – Mother’s Day

It’s that time of year again when we break out the glitter and glue and attempt to make a homemade card. Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring mothers around the world, celebrating motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. It falls on the last Sunday of the month this year and is the perfect hook for a weekend press release.
