Both the Irish Film and Television Awards and the Oireachtas na Gaeilge Media Awards took place this weekend.
RTE’s successful crime drama Love/Hate won big at the IFTA’s, winning Best Drama and Best Script. Actress Charlie Murphy also won Best Lead Actress.
Film director Jim Sheridan received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Kilkenny based Cartoon Saloon’s animation Amhrán na Mara ‘Song of the Sea’ was named Best Film of the Year.
Highlights of the IFTA’s will air on June 1st on TV3.
The 2015 Oireachtas na Gaeilge Media Awards also took place in Galway over the weekend and TG4 swept up the awards. Ros na Run, the stations long running soap, received a special recognition award, and the crime drama Corp & Ainm picked up TV series of the year.
The broadcasting station won a total of five awards, including broadcaster of the year and actor of the year.
