This week’s stories include moves at 2FM, the PRII awards and the sad news of the death of a well known Irish journalist.
Media on the move
Eoghan McDermott will replaced Colm Hayes on RTÉ 2FM’s ‘Drivetime’ slot. Eoghan is currently already a presenter on 2FM, but will take over the coveted spot when the show returns to air in September. It was also confirmed that Colm Hayes will move to a weekend breakfast slot.
PRII PR awards
The Awards for Excellence in Public Relations are taking place on the 26th June 2015 at the Shelbourne Hotel. These awards are hosted by the PRCA (Ireland), the PRII and CIPR Northern Ireland. These awards acknowledge and award Ireland’s most outstanding communications initiatives in the PR and Communications sector.
Death of well known journalist
Journalist and college lecturer Eddie Holt sadly passed away this week after a long illness aged 60. He was formerly a television critic and columnist for The Irish Times, and he wrote for the newspaper from December 1994 until mid-2000s. Mr Holt was a lecturer in the School of Communications in Dublin City University where he taught ethics, writing and literary journalism. Thoughts and condolences to his friends and family.
